Klyma to Present 'Rust Belt Vagabond' Show

Greg Klyma is the Rust Belt Vagabond—a home-cooked meal and a Vaudeville show in a fast food, karaoke world.  It has been said that his stories blend seamlessly into songs, evoking a flavor of Mark Twain, Woody Guthrie and David Sedaris.

Klyma is a prolific songwriter, plays multiple instruments and is a seasoned performer who brings to stage a catalog of songs that will educate and amuse audiences.  Greg was born in Sisters Hospital in Buffalo, New York and was raised in the suburb of Cheektowaga.  He is the eldest son in a blue collar household of his Polish-American parents.

Klyma presents “Buffalo, NY through the Eyes of the Rust Belt Vagabond.”  He will take the audience on a musical journey reliving the threat of Father Baker’s orphanage, dances performed by his cousins’ Polka band and family trips to the Allegany State Park and Niagra Falls.  He will also offer insight to Buffalo’s rich musical past and present in both traditional and popular song.

Klyma’s tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, October 1st at the Coffeyville Meal Site, Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2nd. He will continue his tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday.  Wednesday he will entertain residents at Pickwick Place, Asbury Village and the Dale Apartments followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday and the Caney Nursing Home and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday.

The public is invited to the 10:20 a.m. Tuesday Humanities performances at CCC.  The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre.  For more information call 620-251-7700 ext. 2145 or 2038.
