Ravens for the Cure Event set for April 16

The Coffeyville Community College (CCC) softball, baseball and dance teams will join with the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the CCC Relay for Life Team in an event to raise money for the American Cancer Society on Saturday, April 16, 2011.  Free youth clinics, a fun run and lots of cool antique cars are just the beginning of the activities to be held at Walter Johnson Park.

Registration for the 5K fun run and walk begins at 7:30 a.m.  The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the 5K walk.  Medals will be awarded to the top two finishers in each age division of the run.  Runners and walkers may pre-register online.  The cost is $20, payable on race day, and includes a t-shirt while supplies last. 

Free softball and baseball clinics for kids ages 14 and younger will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  The first 25 individuals to register for each clinic will be given a free t-shirt.

A car wash sponsored by the CCC Dance Team will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An antique car show sponsored by the Eta Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and the Coffeygrinders Antique Car Club will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The public may cast their vote for their favorite vehicle.  First and second place trophies will be given to the cars which have the most money donated.

Hot dogs, ice cream sundaes, soft drinks and other snacks will be sold at the concession stand at the softball field.
