Coffeyville Community College art instructor Michael DeRosa has been making the rounds providing program demonstrations to local high schools.
During his visit to Cherryvale High School, DeRosa provided a live chainsaw art demonstration and cut out a large fish for the students. While visiting with Independence High School and Field Kindley High School students, DeRosa demonstrated the process involved when working with clay in a potter’s wheel demonstration.
Coffeyville Community College’s art program affords students the opportunity to explore a variety of mediums including painting, photography, ceramics and chainsaw sculpting to name a few. Student projects from the chainsaw class can be viewed in the sculpture garden located at the corner of 8th and Beech streets in Coffeyville.
