Robert Stemmons began whistling at the age of five. When legendary whistler Fred Lowery, who twice headlined at Carnegie Hall, performed at his school, he was mesmerized and inspired. Over the next twenty years, Stemmons worked to perfect his instrument teaching himself techniques. Stemmons has learned techniques such as vibrato, staccato, tremolo, warbling, harmony warbling, trilling, two-note harmony, and more. He additionally learned to make many realistic bird sounds. These are now trademarks of his concerts.
A native of Tulsa, Stemmons has been featured countless times by various media. Since 2006 he has been working with Cirque du Soleil as “The Loyal Whistler” in their touring show “Corteo”. He has toured the US, Canada, Japan, Russia, Belgium, Austria, France, Spain, Switzerland, and Germany doing over 2,000 shows in six years and entertaining well over 3 million audience members.
