Bob Livingston will be in Coffeyville the week of April 20 as part of the Coffeyville Community College Humanities Project.
Livingston, a singer/songwriter, was a member of the legendary Lost Gonzo Band, performing and recording with such musical visionaries such as Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Martin Murphey and Ray Wylie Hubbard.
Since 1986, Livingston has traveled on international tours for the US State Department. He has traveled to over 25 countries including India, Pakistan, the Middle East and Africa. Of all the countries toured, India stood out for him. He played with local musicians on their indigenous instruments bringing together an amazing diversity of themes and influences, mixing rhythms, instrumentation and insights from both East and West.
Back in Austin, Livingston put together a diverse group of musicians and performers from Texas and India and called it COWBOYS & INDIANS. The group perform an original musical work that explores the contrasts and similarities between the complex styles of India and the mythical cowboy songs and lore of the American West.
Join Livingston as gives a presentation on his experiences on the International Stage and performs the music he wrote for COWBOYS & INDIANS.
Livingston’s tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, April 20, at Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21. Livingston will continue his tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday, April 22, he will entertain residents at Pickwick Place, Asbury Village, and Dale Apartments followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday, April 23, and the Caney Nursing Center and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday, April 24.
The public is invited to the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday humanities performances at CCC. The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre. For more information call 620-251-7700 ext. 2145 or 2038.
