Rik Palieri comes to Coffeyville the week of September 15th as part of the Coffeyville Community College Humanities Project.
“Totem Pole” Rik Palieri is a singer-songwriter performing both original and traditional songs on a variety of instruments including banjo, guitar, mouth bow, Native American flute & Polish Bagpipes. Palieri is the author of the book "The Road Is My Mistress: Tales of a Roustabout Songster" and the producer of “The Song Writer’s Notebook On VCAM," TV show which is now archived in the new Rik Palieri Collection in The Library Of Congress. Palieri has eight CDs and was recently featured on the Grammy nominated CD “Singing Through The Hard Times: A Tribute to Utah Phillips." This year Palieri will be featuring a program based on the best known songs from his friend and mentor, Pete Seeger.
Palieri's tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, Sept. 15th at Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16th. Palieri will continue his tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday, Sept. 17th, he will entertain residents at Pickwick Place and Asbury Village followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday, Sept. 18th, and the Caney Nursing Center and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday, Sept. 19th.
The public is invited to the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday humanities performances at CCC. The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre. For more information call 620-251-7700 ext. 2145 or 2038.
