Laura Packer has been telling stories her whole life. Packer has spread her stories across the U.S. and in selected European venues. Her unusual and enchanting stories are influenced by the oldest myths and everyday occurrences. Her style of storytelling welcomes audiences into the narrative and encourages them to be part of the creative experience.
Packer was a finalist on the 2009 and 2010 Boston Story Slam series, presenter at the 2012 Ciudad de las Ideas Festival, winner of the 210 National Storytelling Network Oracle Award and 2012 League for Advancement of New England Storytelling Brother Blue Award. Packer has hosted several Boston-area storytelling series and recently launched a new storytelling series in Kansas City.
Packer’s tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, September 16th at the Coffeyville Meal Site, Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17th. Packer will continue her tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday. Wednesday she will entertain residents at Asbury Village and Manor House followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday and the Caney Nursing Home and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday.
The public is invited to the 10:20 a.m. Tuesday Humanities performances at CCC. The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre. For more information call 620-251-7700 ext. 2145.
