Charlie Roth brings to the stage a presentation of story songs from his Celtic studies abroad. Roth recently released his seventh album “Tartan Cactus Heart,” which has graced the Euro Americana charts at number fourteen.
For the past three years, Roth has been the guitar player in the Celtic band Ring of Kerry. He has also had two solo tours in the United Kingdom. As a child glued to the radio, Roth was fascinated by the British Invasion of pop stars and the stories they told through their lyrics not realizing at the time that many of the melodies were by in large Celtic as were the story telling lyrics.
Charlie Roth’s tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, February 4th at the Coffeyville Meal Site, Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5th. He will continue his tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday. Wednesday he will entertain residents at Pickwick Place, Asbury Village and the Dale Apartments followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday and the Caney Nursing Home and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday.
The public is invited to the 10:20 a.m. Tuesday Humanities performances at CCC. The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre. For more information call 620-251-7700 ext. 2145 or 2038.
