The Coffeyville Community College Technical Campus lent a helping hand to girl scout Brooke Ray with her Silver Award Project. The Silver Award is the second highest award given by Girl Scouts of USA and the highest award that a Girl Scout Cadette can earn.
Ray’s project was creating a life size checker board on the playground at Lincoln Elementary in Caney.
The CCC Construction Program built an acoustic guitar to raffle. The guitar then went to the CCC Collision Repair Program to be painted. Proceeds went on to help raise funds to complete the project.
The Construction program also cut, sanded, painted, and finished the checkers for the project.
The CCC Machining Program used the CNC mill to machine the Caney Bullpup logo into the checker pieces.
The project was planned and coordinated by Ray. She gained the approval from the USD 436 Board of Education for the project. She also purchased the acoustic guitar kit for the fundraiser and with the help of Clarence Ray, her father, she installed the concrete pavers for the checker board.
