Coffeyville Community College Technical Campus partnered with the Coffeyville Area Chamber of Commerce and Montgomery County Action Council to host the second annual Coffeyville Manufacturing Day on October 2.
Approximately 65 students from Field Kindley, Independence and Labette County High School came together to learn the impact that local manufacturers have on the regional economy along with potential career fields and educational opportunities within manufacturing.
“All the students really enjoyed the day,” said Terry Ward, teacher from Labette County High School. “It led to a lot of questions.”
Activities for the day included tours of John Deere Coffeyville Works, Coffeyville SEKTAM, Inc, and the Coffeyville Community College Technical campus. Following the tours, speakers Teressa Steeby from Ducommun Aerospace, Dick Friesen from Cessna/Textron Aviation, Steve Davis from Mid-America Manufacturing Technology center, and Aaron Heckman from the Montgomery County Action Council discussed the various opportunities within their companies and the economic impact their companies have within the community.
Students enjoyed lunch and various prizes handed out at the end of the event.
