Taylor Stringer and Cooper Smart, both of Coffeyville, were selected as Irene Ryan nominees for CCC's recent production of "Marvin's Room."
Stringer, who played Bessie, and Smart, who portrayed Hank, will compete along with hundreds of college theatre students from a six-state area during the Region V Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Jan. 19-25 in Lincoln, Neb.
The ACTF brings together theatre students and faculty for a week-long experience that includes workshops and performances designed to showcase the commitment of region schools to the art of theatre.
Stringer, a freshman, and her partner, sophomore Lonnie Wash of Kansas City, Kan., and Smart, a sophomore, and his partner, sophomore Kiefer Lawson of Salina, are required to put together an acting package of two scenes and a monologue not to exceed six minutes.
The two teams will perform their packages during "Sharp Words, etc.," the Student-directed One Acts, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6 in the Spencer / Rounds Performing Arts Theatre.
