Marilyn and Larry Kinsella will team up to present the true story of Ishi, the last of the Yahi Indians. Marilyn, the storyteller, and Larry, the experimental archaeologist, will demonstrate flintknapping techniques that Ishi left to modern man.
The program includes Marilyn telling a California American Indian story called “Coyote Brings Fire” with Larry demonstrating how Ishi made fire with two fire sticks. The couple will also field questions at the conclusion of the presentation.
The Kinsellas’ tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, November 12th at the Coffeyville Meal Site, Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13th. The Kinsellas will continue their tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday. Wednesday they will entertain residents at Pickwick Place, Asbury Village and the Dale Apartments followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday and the Caney Nursing Home and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday.
The public is invited to the 10:20 a.m. Tuesday Humanities performances at CCC. The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre. For more information call 620-251-7700 ext. 2145 or 2038.
