The Coffeyville Community College Theatre Department will present its sixth annual Alumni Dinner Theatre on November 4 in the CCC Cafeteria. Appetizers will start at 6:15 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m. The production this year is the Tony Award winning musical, The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee. The musical will be directed by Mark Frank and the Musical Director is John Gray.
Tickets are a $50 donation. The musical will feature six CCC alumni. The cast includes: CCC Humanities Instructor Bethanie Frank, CCC Music Instructor John Gray, CCC Theatre Assistant Kerri Hurley, professional Chicago actor from the Blue Man Group, Nick Rush, professional Chicago actors Sarah Rush and James Hart, Chicago comedian Zach Bartz, CCC alumnus Brianna Cordova and CCC Volunteer Ravens Football coach Michael Rose.
The musical also features three members from the audience to participate in the "Spelling Bee". The musical centers around a fictional spelling bee in Putnam County, New York. Six kids face off in the battle of their lives. They compete against each other as well as members of the audience. Three adults help adjudicate the proceedings: a nostalgic former spelling bee winner, a mildly insane Vice Principal and The Official Comfort Counselor completing his community service to the state of New York create a hilarious musical comedy.
