Sophomore Karen Stoehr was named Phi Theta Kappa Student of the Month for February at Coffeyville Community College. Stoehr is currently studying for her third career in environmental science at CCC.
"Karen is a great example of our non-traditional students that have returned to community college to prepare for a new career," said CCC Phi Theta Kappa advisor Linda McFate.
Stoehr graduated from high school in Tacoma, Wash. before serving 20 years in the army, living overseas for a time in Germany and Belgium. She has also worked as a construction superintendent for a plumbing company in Georgia before moving to Coffeyville to care for her parents.
Stoehr has two grown sons. She is scheduled to graduate from CCC in December.
