The Eta Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society at Coffeyville Community College held its late fall induction of new members at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, in the campus Oak Room. The thirty-one new inductees represented sixteen towns in three states as well as two foreign countries.
Eta Gamma President Caitlin Hollinger served as processional grand marshal and the Phi Theta Kappa song was used as processional music. All-Kansas Academic Team Member, Caitlin Hollinger, welcomed the new inductees and their guests and introduced the chapter officers seated at the head table. The keynote address was presented by Chapter Advisor Linda McFate who reminded inductees of the importance of their educational journey and to take advantage of the many golden opportunities and options available through chapter membership. A formal induction was held sharing with the inductees the symbolism of the white rose, torch, and emblem of Phi Theta Kappa membership. Taking part in the induction ceremony were Wes Burdiek and Melissa Morgan, co-vice presidents of service; LaToya Johnson, vice president of fellowship; Caitlin Hollinger, president; Hannah Potter, vice president of scholarship, and Alex Black, Relay For Life Chairman. A reception was held for all inductees and guests following the ceremony and group photographs were taken.
New inductees of the Eta Gamma Chapter from Kansas include: Coffeyville – Krystal Amberg, Rebekah Benning, Christopher Bervert, Bryant Traxson, Paul Melies, Megan Camp, Cindy Gonzales, Amber James, Zachary Mitchell, Leah Northup, Lori Reid; Tecumseh – Austin Baughman; Horton – Timothy Burns; Independence – Vanessa De Luna; Caney – Gable LaForge, Raymond Moran; Topeka – Madeleine Shrock; Belle Plain – Jared Warren; Breman – Greg Howard; and Goddard – Amanda White. From Oklahoma were South Coffeyville – Jill Cline, Teresa White; Welch – David Dryer; Broken Arrow – Robert Hoffman; Edmond– Alyssa Nale; Tulsa – Cole Webb; and Bartlesville – Emmanual Serrano. John Branum from Rockwell, Texas, was also inducted as were Xavier N’Goun from Cote D’Ivoire and Muhammed Sannoh from Gambia. The new inductees brought chapter membership to ninety-eight.
