The Construction Technology Program of Coffeyville Community College, Columbus Technical Campus, started its new residential housing project with a boom this week. Students got the unique opportunity of participating in a foundation pour using a concrete boom pump truck.
The mission of the Construction Technology Program is to train skilled workers for the Kansas workforce. To train students in all phases of residential construction, the construction technology program is constructing an 1,800 sq. ft. project house. Students will participate in all aspects of residential construction from the foundation to the finished product. Instructor Kevin Hunt designed the project to be completed over a two-year period, so students have the time to learn not only all aspects of home construction, but also how to build a quality home. Upon completion, the house will be sold, and the profits used to help fund future projects.
Project participants are: Construction Instructor Kevin Hunt, Tyler Area, Kyle Taylor and Seth Campbell from Oswego High School, Brian Thompson from Southeast High School, Brice Bennett, Nicholas Bole, Kody Danner, Colton Moyer, Kip Overman and Blaine Parsons from Columbus High School, and Kenneth Pease and Tyler Turnbough from Columbus.
The new construction is located at 223 Grandview in Columbus. For more information call 620-429-3896 or 1-800-208-8324.
