Gene and Mereda Tucker will receive the Distinguished Alumni and Friends award from Coffeyville Community College on October 12, 2012. Gene and Mereda have been actively involved in the CCC Foundation for many years. They both take an active role in the CCC Scholarship Benefit each May and have created several scholarships to benefit CCC students.
Gene Mereda are native to Coffeyville and both attended CCC. They formed Eagle Security Services in 1977 and continue to operate it still today. Gene retired after 26 years of service to the Montgomery County Rural Fire Director. Mereda worked as a veterinary assistant for Dr.’s Ralph Alter and Eileen Warner for 30 years. The couple enjoys antique cars and spending time with their large extended family.
The Tuckers’ have established scholarships at the CCC Foundation in memory of their nephew, Mike White and John & Linda Waggoner (Gene’s sister and brother-in-law). They have also endowed scholarships in memory of Mereda’s sister Emma White as well as a Gene & Mereda Tucker scholarship. The Tuckers enjoy nothing more than being able to assist others in furthering their education and that is clearly demonstrated by their acts of kindness and generosity.
Reservations to the luncheon are requested by October 10. Reservations can be made by calling Sally Presson at the CCC Foundation at 620-252-7070. The cost is $25 for a couple, or $15 for an individual.
