The Coffeyville Community College Music Department invites the public to an instrumental concert on Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre. Admission is free.
“This will be a great look into a few different areas of instrumental music,” said John Gilmore, CCC Band Director. “Jazz is one of the truly inherent American art forms, and the percussion ensemble is a fairly recent development in terms of music history.”
The concert will showcase Jazz, Percussion and Wind Ensembles with pieces composed by Miles Davis, Raul Domenech and Ed Huckeby.
“The students in these ensembles are being immersed in new techniques and rehearsal styles while still practicing good musicianship,” said Gilmore. “The Wind Ensemble is the showcase ensemble for our college, and the effort of the students stands out in the quality of the performance. It is a great group of students, playing some great pieces of music!”
