The Coffeyville Community College Student Success Center (SSC) helps students be successful in college by providing individualized instruction to students that strengthens their academic skills. The Student Success Center, which is located on the lower level of the Graham Library, provides tutoring services to students enrolled at Coffeyville Community College.
Coffeyville Community College recognizes that student success in the classroom is paramount for our students. “Students do not always come to college prepared for college level academics,” said SSC Director, Stacia Meek. “The SSC focuses on assisting them in their classes so that they will succeed in class and ultimately complete a college degree.”
"The Student Success Center is an excellent resource for our students. The availability of a quiet, positive learning environment as well as the personal attention students can receive is a tremendous benefit. Students and parents are always impressed and excited with the opportunity the SSC gives for study time as well as individual tutoring for our students,” said Head Women’s Basketball Coach Emily Washburn. “This portion of our college sets us apart from other schools and not only gives us an edge in the recruitment of student athletes but gives our students an edge in the classroom."
The center is staffed with three full time professionals, as well as student tutors who have excellent math and English skills and specialize in other subject areas. Stacia Meek was recently promoted to the Student Success Center Director. Meek has been with CCC since 2007 and has a BBA in Marketing and her MBA from Pittsburg State University.
“The center not only helps tutor the student-athlete, it also helps them develop study skills for class and everyday life,” said Head Football Coach Aaron Flores. “We are very fortunate to have such a commitment to the students here at Coffeyville. The resource is there for them to be successful in all arenas of life.”
Meek is joined by SSC staff Taylor Davis and Jill Wood. Davis has been with CCC since 2010 and made the move to First Year Program Coordinator and continues to be the Native American Leadership Coach. Davis is a CCC graduate and earned her B.S. from Missouri State University. She is currently working on our M.S. at Pittsburg State University. Wood has been an adjunct faculty member since 2008 and has a M.S. in Business Education from Emporia State University. Wood was hired fulltime to be the SSC Assistant.
In addition to tutoring, the center coordinates study groups and offers seminars on topics such as study skills and time management. The Student Success Center manages an online parent resource center and provides academic accommodations to help students succeed.
