Darah Sherwood, a psychology major from Independence, has been selected as the October Member of the Month for the Eta Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Coffeyville Community College.
Sherwood is a graduate of Independence High School and is attending Coffeyville Community College on an art scholarship. Following her CCC graduation, she plans to transfer to Pittsburg State University. Her artistic talents include painting and ceramics. Sherwood received first place in an ICC art competition in 2011 for a three dimensional water color painting.
Sherwood serves as the Eta Gamma Relay For Life Co-Chairman. She has been actively involved in the chapter by assisting with the campus wide food drive and the planting of Osage Hills Vineyard. She has also sold Raven Gear at the football games, participated in the Lawrence Color Run, served as the chapter's Red Raven Holiday Committee liaison and is a Five Star Phi Theta Kappa member.
She is the daughter of Angela Birney of Coffeyville and Michael Sherwood of Independence.
