CCC Instructor Derek Dick was recognized in April by the Kansas Southeast District FFA Chapters with an Outstanding Service Award.
The Southeast District covers all of Southeast Kansas including several FFA Chapters. Students nominate the nominees and then FFA instructors select the winner for this category.
Dick was nominated for his valuable support of the Southeast District FFA contest including hosting the event for the speech and agribusiness management portions of the contest for the past three years. Additionally he was recognized for hosting CCC’s Aggie Days which allows hundreds of students each year to compete in various contests that test their agricultural knowledge.
“I was honored to be nominated and given this award by the Southeast FFA District,” said Dick. “These awards are especially meaningful knowing that I was nominated by a student and awarded by my peers.”
Included in that group of peers were three of Dick’s former students that are now agricultural instructors in the Southeast District. Kyle Zwahlen from Labette County High School, Tanner Davis from Yates Center and Jim Gilpin from Erie all attended agricultural classes taught by Derek Dick.
