Why Not Community College - CCC Celebrates Community College Month

Why Not Community College, Community College Month

April marks the nationwide celebration of Community College Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the pivotal role community colleges play in providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality education. Coffeyville Community College (CCC) is proud to join this observance with our theme, "Why Not Community College!" This campaign highlights the myriad benefits of enrolling at CCC and underscores our significant economic and community impact.

Why Community College Month is Celebrated
Community College Month serves to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of community colleges in fostering educational opportunities, driving workforce development, and enhancing local economies. These institutions are instrumental in equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary for personal and professional success.

Economic and Community Impact of Coffeyville Community College
A recent economic impact study revealed that Kansas community colleges collectively contributed an astounding $6.7 billion to the state's economy in the fiscal year 2021-22. This impact supported over 106,000 jobs statewide. Specifically, the six Southeast Kansas community colleges, including CCC, supported an average of 209 direct jobs and an additional 1,927 indirect jobs per institution, totaling over 12,000 jobs in the SEK region.

CCC has supported and partnered with our area school districts to provide student opportunities in many concurrent, dual enrolment, and Technical Program EXCEL CTE Initiatives. CCC also works with fellow Community Colleges to provide programs like the Electric Power Technology Program.
