Coffeyville Community College is saddened by the loss of our student and athlete, Colton Bond. Our condolences go out to his family, friends, and rodeo teammates.
Colton was with his Grandparents when they were in a fatal traffic accident about 6 miles east of U.S. 169 on U.S. 166 just before midnight on May 26.
While attending CCC Colton experienced a very successful year competing in tie-down roping, team roping, and steer roping making the short round at seven of the ten college rodeos in the 2022-2023 school year. Colton finished the year 8th in the regional standings for team roping. In November he competed in the newly formed steer roping division finishing 13th in the nation and qualifying him for the inaugural National Finals Steer Roping College Division.
“Colton was an up-and-coming horse trainer who was always willing to let others ride his horse if they needed one providing much success to others. He was a great friend to all who knew him. His passing will leave a huge hole in the rodeo community.”, said Johnny Weil, CCC Rodeo Coach.
