Coffeyville Community College is pleased to welcome home Curtis K. Harshaw as the keynote speaker at the College’s 2018 commencement ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, May 12, at 10 a.m. in the Gilmer K. Nellis Gym. Approximately 250 students will be graduating from CCC.
“Each year we look forward to sharing the story of former students with current Red Raven graduates,” said CCC President Linda Moley. “Curtis Harshaw is an outstanding example of how hard-work, dedication and commitment develop a lifelong journey of success both personally and professionally.”
Mr. Harshaw grew up on the family farm in Labette County and attended Labette County High School. He worked at Funk Manufacturing for two years while attending Coffeyville Community College. After graduating from CCC with an Associate in Arts degree in 1963 as a pre-engineering major, he obtained his B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1967. In 1971, he graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, with an M.B.A. in Real Estate.
Today, Mr. Harshaw is the Owner and President of Harshaw Asset Management Corporation, and is involved in property management and ownership of manufactured home communities. He is actively involved in several civic organizations including: The Optimist Club of Grand Prairie, Texas; Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; and Dallas Chapter of the BYU Management Society. Mr. Harshaw has received a variety of awards including: Adult Leadership in Boy Scouts of America – Silver Beaver Award and Wood Badge trained; Executive Board Member of the Circle 10 Council, Boy Scouts of America; and Honored as Alumnus of the Year in 2008 at Coffeyville Community College.
Mr. Harshaw has been married to his wife, Janice (also a CCC graduate), for 53 years. They have five children and 17 grandchildren. During his spare time, Mr. Harshaw enjoys fishing, genealogy, and travel.
