Coffeyville Community College, Columbus Technical Campus has partnered with local schools, and businesses to provide WorkKeys testing. This gives local residents the opportunity to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). This testing also supports the county-wide Certified Work Ready Communities (CWRC) project.
The CWRC initiative provides an independent endorsement on the quality of the workforce and the community's ability to meet business growth demands and validate workforce skills for business attraction. The NCRC is becoming a preferred resource for businesses in southeast Kansas to hire only the best while saving money and boosting productivity.
“Being a part of a CWRC initiative gives our community exposure on ACT's national website, as well as on Kansas's website where site selectors determine communities who have the qualified workforce,” said CCC Columbus Technical Campus Director Cindy Harold. “It is a great opportunity for Columbus and Cherokee County and we are happy to be a part of it.”
The NCRC is a portable, skill-based certificate that will assist in obtaining employment. It complements credentials such as a high school diploma, industry certificate or a college degree. To earn an NCRC certificate, the WorkKeys Assessment is used to identify skill levels in three specific areas: Applied Math, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. These three skills are highly desirable in the workplace, both for new hires and for promotions to higher-paying jobs with more responsibilities.
CCC is committed to offering the highest quality of service and making the testing process as easy as possible for citizens of Cherokee County. Testing is available by appointment on Wednesdays, throughout the summer, at the CCC Columbus Technical Campus, 509 W Elm, Columbus, Kan. Please call620-429-3896 to schedule a test or for more information on how NCRC can benefit both employees and businesses.
