Coffeyville Community College welcomed students from several area high schools to a hands-on experiential campus visit that included both the Coffeyville and Columbus Technical campuses.
Nearly 300 students were provided a general overview of the fifteen technical programs offered at Coffeyville Community College. Students were then given the opportunity to focus on one field specifically which included a hands-on learning module. Modules included but were not limited to drawing blood from a simulation arm, repairing a dent in a car hood, welding on a simulator, and making a key chain on a CNC machine.
Participating area high schools included Coffeyville, Ft. Scott, Riverton, Cherryvale, Caney, Independence, St. Paul, Altamont, Oswego, Galena, Chetopa, Girard, Columbus, and Southeast.
“Career and technical education is a primary focus of Coffeyville Community College,” said Dr. Marlon Thornburg, VP for Innovation and Business Initiatives. “Tech Days provides students the opportunity to explore the various programs offered at CCC and discover potential areas of interest they may not have previously considered.”
Coffeyville Community College offers nineteen academic programs, fifteen technical programs, fourteen certificate programs and three course certificates. CCC is ranked number one in graduation rates for Kansas community colleges by the Kansas Board of Regents Foresight 2020. CCC is also ranked second most affordable community college in the nation according to AffordableColleges.com.
