Coffeyville Community College hosted the Southeast Kansas District FFA Welding, Milk Quality and Agronomy contest on Jan. 27. Events started at 8:00 a.m. and finished midafternoon at the Coffeyville Community College Main Campus and Welding facilities.
The state wide competition brought in over 400 surrounding high school students who participated in various testing and competed for top honors.
The Milk Quality contest had students identifying different types of cheeses, fat content in dairy products, milk flavor identification, and a comprehensive dairy information test among other parts. The Agronomy contest had students identify of different seeds and a complete comprehensive test. The Welding contest will consisted of a comprehensive welding information test and hands on welding and cutting skills.
Thompson Brothers grilled hotdogs for the participants and brought the Lincoln VRTEX360 simulator for contestants to try first hand.
