CCC Nursing Celebrates #6 Ranking

Coffeyville Community College Nursing is celebrating a #6 ranking in the state of Kansas. PracticalNursing.org ranked CCC for its students pass rate of 98.12% for the exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.  CCC was ranked #6 out of 24 schools in Kansas that offer nursing programs.

"We are excited and honored to have the 6th best LPN Program in the state of Kansas. I anticipate we will continue to move up in the ranking due to 2013 LPN graduates having a 100% pass rate on their recent NCLEX-PN exams," said Heather Pollet, MS, RN, Director of Nursing.

The rankings are compiled and published by PracticalNursing.org.  An organization developed to provide students with better transparency in regards to practical and vocational nursing programs throughout their state, thus allowing them to better match the right school accessible to them.

"PracticalNursing.org felt there was a need for accurate and easily accessible information for folks who wanted to begin their careers in nursing,” said Founder of PracticalNursing.org Simon Korpi. “Our rankings are objective, 100% government sourced, and the schools should be proud of their achievements. Students can rest assured knowing the information they find is credible and reliable to help make their LPN program decisions easier."

The rankings are based on programs with at least two years of pass rate data. To determine the rankings pass rates were averaged based on the number of years programs have data available.  If two programs had the same overall NCLEX-PN pass rate, then additional program characteristics were analyzed, such as number of students, and number of years of test data available.

“The Nursing Program at CCC is dedicated to the success of the students,” said Pollet. “We prepare our graduates to continue their education into our RN program. We also have developed articulations with area 4-year institutions for our graduates to obtain their BSN degree.  Getting them past the NCLEX-PN is the first step in their nursing career and we are thrilled with our student’s success.”

The Bureau of Labor Statistics published it’s predictions for the state, saying it expects a 20% increase in Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) jobs per year by 2020.  Coffeyville Community College Registered Nurse graduates have 100% placement in nursing positions following passage of the NCLEX-RN.

“We are extremely proud of the significant accomplishments of both our nursing students and the Nursing staff at CCC.  Our staff take seriously their role in preparing students for their career in nursing and strive for excellence,” said Vice President for Innovation and Business Initiatives Marlon Thornburg.

Applications to the nursing program are accepted once each year and the next program will begin January 2015.  Applications for this class of nurses will be accepted August 1-October 31, 2014.  A pre-admission exam is required.  For more information about Nursing at CCC, visit Coffeyville.edu or contact Heather Pollet at 620.252.7550 ext. 32.
