Coffeyville Community College and Pratt Community College partnered on an expansion of the CCC Electrical Technology program to the PCC campus. The program is set to start in August 2011 with classes on the PCC campus. CCC hired master electrician Thomas Kuhn to spearhead the program in Pratt. Tom has 20+ years of residential and commercial electrical experience in Kansas and Colorado. The program is 48 credit hours in length and results in a program certification. Students may enroll in the program on a full or part-time basis. Full-time students can complete the coursework in 10 months and be prepared for entry level positions in residential, commercial or industrial settings. Coursework includes Fundamentals of Electricity, National Electric Code, Residential Wiring, Single & Three Phase Motors, Electrical for HVAC, Electronics for Electricians, Industrial Wiring, Motor Controls and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's).
CCC received a Kansas Department of Commerce Workforce Solutions grant to help offset start-up costs for the program. Pratt CC and CCC also collaborated on the expansion of the PCC Electric Power Technology (Lineman) program to Coffeyville to address a shortage of linemen in the southeast Kansas area. Pratt expanded the program to Coffeyville with the assistance of a Kansas Department of Commerce Workforce Development grant in 2009.
CCC is currently accepting enrollments for the Electrical program in Pratt. Interested students may contact Tom Kuhn @ (620) 450-2164 or via e-mail.
