Eta Gamma Assists With Mardi Gras Fundraiser

The Eta Gamma Chapter completed an enjoyable fundraising project where they assisted the Coffeyville Rotary Club with their annual Mardi Gras party.  This event is Coffeyville’s answer to the Mardi Gras Celebration in New Orleans.  The CCC Phi Theta Kappa Chapter has assisted the Rotary with the event for the past several years.  Chapter members met at the gymnasium of the Holy Name Catholic Church, 408 Willow Street, at 10:00 a.m., February 2, 2013, to set the tables and chairs.  Tables were allocated for the buffet food line as well as for the silent auction items and registration area.  Additional tables were set for each of the groups that had purchased a table for decoration and competition.

Rotarians and guests decorated their tables from 11:00 to 1:00.  At 5:00 p.m., Eta Gamma members returned to the gymnasium where they helped to make signs for the silent auction and set up the buffet line.  Later the members served the food which consisted of jambalaya, red beans and rice, green beans, combination salad and bread pudding for dessert.  The members enjoyed viewing the various decorated tables and party-goers in costume.  Some of the tables included Duck Dynasty, The Spice Girls, The Hoarders, Queen of Denial, etc.  Following the dinner, awards presentations, and dance, the Eta Gamma members cleaned the kitchen area as well as the gymnasium floor and stacked the tables and chairs for storage.  This fundraiser not only helped the chapter but the Rotary as well.  Money from this project will help to purchase airline tickets for travel to international convention in San Jose.

Members assisting with the project were Chairman Mercades Price assisted by Sky Birdcreek, Jessika Hamrick, Laura Lyons, Madison Bush, Aaron Neely, Karen Stoehr, and Caitlin Shepard.
