Wright named Employee of the Month

“Morning Mel (that’s what they call her)!” say the young men in the Coffeyville Community College (CCC) men’s residence hall as they greet Melanie Wright, the housekeeper for that facility.   

Wright was named the Red Raven Employee of the Month for September in large part due to her ability to help care for the guys in the residence halls.  Wright has been employed at CCC for two years and has lived in Coffeyville her entire life. 

“I try to help them (the students) out as much as I can,” said Wright.  “I make them longer cable lines for their televisions and loan them things to make their rooms more comfortable.” 

Wright’s favorite part of the job is the students. 

“They are really nice.  One day last month they told me they had a water leak and when I walked in to take care of it, they all jumped out and said, ‘surprise’,” she said.  “They gave me a birthday party with a cake, presents and a big bouquet of flowers.  Event the girls were involved!” 

When she is not at work, Wright enjoys fishing, spending time with her family and playing the slot machines at the casinos.
