Marsha
VanDyne named Staff Member of the Year
Coffeyville Community College (CCC) faculty secretary, Marsha VanDyne
was selected as the 2008 Red Raven Staff Member of the Year.
“Marsha serves various functions for various people. She is secretary
for at least half the faculty, working on tests and syllabi, shows
faculty members how to look things up or create a requisition. She helps
Phi Theta Kappa, figures time cards for maintenance, helps with keys for
faculty and students and creates various forms and signs," said one
nominator. “She never leaves a person hanging, if she can’t help them,
she finds someone who can. She is one of the best examples of what is
good about CCC.”
VanDyne earned her Associate of Applied Science degree from CCC. Prior
to working at the College she was a Mag-Card operator at Becker,
Hildreth, Eastman and Gossard. She has been a faculty secretary at CCC
for 28 years.
In addition to the above mentioned duties, VanDyne sorts the mail, helps
with the humanities project, works with the honors program and assists
students.
“I enjoy the variety of things that need to be done in my job,” she
said.
Among her most important career accomplishments, she lists being named
the 1991-92 CCC Outstanding Staff Member, chaperoning the choir when
they sang at Carnegie Hall and learning Adobe Pagemaker. Her family
includes son, Kyle, parents, James and Helen Riley and brothers, Morgan
and Amos Riley. In her spare time she enjoys cross stitching and
reading.
“Marsha is a hard worker and always available if someone from another
department needs her assistance,” said another nominator. “She is very
organized and always follows through.”
One thing most people do not know about VanDyne is that she was a member
of the Coffeyville Ambassadors that sang at Disney World in 1976.
The staff member of the year is nominated by faculty and staff at CCC
and chosen by a committee of employees from all areas on campus. |
