CCC partners with Prestige and Pitt State with IMPACT Grant

Prestige Cabinet, Pittsburg State University and Coffeyville Community College (CCC) have partnered under a Kansas Department of Commerce IMPACT grant to provide equipment, training, and training materials for the expansion and relocation of Prestige Cabinet to facilities in Columbus and Coffeyville, Kansas.  The grant funding will be used to purchase construction training equipment to be used by CCC to train the estimated 635 new employees at Prestige Cabinet plants in Coffeyville and Columbus over a five year grant period.

The expansion project involves the development of training videos by Pittsburg State University, the purchase of $28,644 in equipment by Prestige for training purposes, and basic cabinetmaking and safety instruction by CCC.  The grant administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce will compensate CCC for customized training for Prestige employees.  Equipment purchased as part of the grant training will become the property of CCC upon successful completion of the grant project.

The customized training project is slated to begin in October 2008 at the CCC Columbus Technical Campus and continue for up to five years as needed for Prestige Cabinets.  Cindy Harrold, Director of the CCC Technical Campus in Columbus, will be the project coordinator for the training.

CCC has participated in previous IMPACT grant projects through the Kansas Department of Commerce with American Insulated Wire and Amazon.com.
