CCC receives $451,500 EDA grantCoffeyville Community College (CCC) has received a $451,500 Financial Assistance Grand through the Economic Development Administration (EDA). The Grant will fund construction of a welding facility in Columbus, Kan. to meet the needs of area industry. The expansion of welding at CCC to the Columbus campus involves funding from three grant sources to construct and equip the new construction and welding facility. The EDA grant and a $100,000 Workforce Solutions Grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce have already been awarded to CCC. The College has also requested a $99,821 Perkins Reserve Fund Grant which is pending. The Workforce Solutions and Perkins grants will be used as matching funds to the EDA grant which requires a 50% match of cash or in-kind services. CCC Construction program students will help with the interior construction of the building as an in-kind contribution. The expansion/construction project is slated to begin in October and be completed by August 2009. The program expansion to Columbus has been requested by industry in the Columbus area. |
