Torey
Smart in concert on October 10
The Coffeyville Community College (CCC)
evening humanities program will bring local talent, Torey Smart, to the
stage on Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. This concert is free to the public.
Smart began her singing career at age five by entering her
kindergarten talent show. Since then she’s jumped at the chance to be
on stage whether it’s alone or in a group. She has sung at many places
around the Southeast Kansas area including the Coffeyville City Wide 4th
of July Celebrations, Dalton Defender Days, New Beginnings, Neewollah,
Country Time Music Theater, Relay For Life, sporting events and at the
Edgewood Talent Shows. Her musical talents have taken her to the stage
in Nashville, Tennessee. She’s been involved in 10 musicals at
Coffeyville Community College including lead roles in Aladdin, Narnia,
Peter Pan and Seussical the Musical.
In March 2008, Smart entered the Rascal Flatts National Milk Rocks
video contest voted on by the public where she ended up in the 25th
spot. Rascal Flatts then chose their favorites and she placed third out
of more than 250 entries and won a Gibson Les Paul guitar signed by
Rascal Flatts.
Smart recently auditioned for American Idol, but didn’t make the cut
from the first round. Even though she didn’t make it, she still hasn’t
given up and continues to dream of a singing career.
Smart is currently attending Coffeyville Community College and is
involved in the show choir Soundsations, Phi Theta Kappa, and is an
Honors Student. She enjoys anything to do with music, reading and being
outdoors, and of course, loves to be with her friends and family. |
