"Hauntings"
returns this Halloween
Show is sold out.
There may be a ghost or two contacted in the near future if the
spirits are willing during "Hauntings," a theatrical production being
staged Friday, October 24 at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the main
campus of Coffeyville Community College.
While the production won't actually try to summon the dead, "Hauntings"
is patterned on 19th century séances. Apparitions will likely
appear and seem authentic; however, the séance isn't intended to conjure
the ghost of dear Aunt Emma.
"It is a theatrical production using an arsenal of devices and means
that "mediums" of past used to convince the living that communication
with the dead was taking place," said Pete Walterscheid, author and
producer of this show now in its fifth season. "Each performance
is different because it depends a lot on the participation of the
group."
The show is divided into two parts: the Light Séance and the Dark
Séance. Guests will participate in various paranormal experiments
during the fully illuminated Light Séance. Then once the "Circle
of Life" is balanced and conditions are optimum for spirits to be
contacted, the Dark Séance begins and is conducted in absolute darkness.
The production is being presented as part of the
Coffeyville Community College Humanities Program and admission is free.
There will be three performances of "Haunting" on October 24.
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10:30 p.m.
Seating is limited to 60 guests for each one hour show. Tickets can be
picked up from Kelli Bauer in Student Services office at 307 West Ninth.
Because seating is limited, be prepared to arrive early, or come back
for a later show. Because this show can be frightening, this is
not a show for children. Young children will not be allowed to
participate. For more information about this show, please visit
