Raven soccer teams defeat NEO

The women's and men's soccer teams defeated NEO on August 26 in the Raven's season opener at Veterans Memorial Stadium.  The Raven women won 4-0 while the men defeated the Golden Norsemen 2-0.

In the women's game, sophomore Tarita Gordon got the scoring started with a goal to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead.  Gordon's goal was assisted by Brittany Meza.  Jacqueline Bernitt gave the Ravens a 2-0 lead in the first half with a goal that was assisted by Gordon.  The Ravens maintained the 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, Priscilla Gadelha added a goal on an assist from Lauren Reed.  Gordon completed the scoring with her second goal of the game with an assist from Bernitt.  The Raven women outshot NEO 17 to 12.  The Ravens also had four corner kicks during the game.

In the men's game, the Ravens won a defensive battle, 2-0.  The Ravens had seven shots on goal to just four for NEO.  The Ravens, though, made some noise with their opportunities.  The Ravens had a 1-0 halftime lead on a goal from Bronson Garcia.  Garcia's goal came on a rebound off the crossbar after an initial shot from Jeremiah West.

In the second half, the Ravens got a goal from Brunno Dos Santos on an assist by Carter Stevenson to make the final margin 2-0. 

The Ravens return to action on Thursday, September 4, when they host Johnson County at Veterans Memorial Stadium.  The women's game will begin at 2 p.m. followed by the men at 4 p.m.
