#12 Fort Scott pulls away for 15-0 win over Ravens

Fort Scott and Coffeyville were all wet Saturday afternoon.  And muddy too.  Fort Scott, though, would be the team warm and fuzzy after three hours of battling wet and rainy conditions in Fort Scott.

Fort Scott scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to pull away late for a 15-0 win over the Ravens.  Zac Dickey scored on a one yard run and Derrick Stewart put the final nail in the Ravens' coffin with a 95 yard pass interception return in the fourth quarter, the lone touchdowns on Saturday afternoon.

Luke Halsey added a 31 yard field goal in the third quarter to give the Greyhounds a 3-0 lead in the third quarter.  Despite the shutout, the Ravens had golden scoring opportunities in the first half.

The Ravens were stopped on a goal line stand with nine minutes left in the first quarter.  The Ravens started the position on the Greyhound 20 yard line after a bad snap and desperation punt from the end zone resulted in great field position for the Ravens.  The Ravens drove to the one yard line, but Kenny Armstrong was pushed back on a fourth and goal play.

The Ravens had another great chance to get on the board right before halftime.  With just over two minutes remaining in the half, the Ravens punted to the Greyhounds.  The Greyhounds fumbled the kick and the Ravens recovered the ball on the Greyhound 27 yard line.

The Ravens would drive to the three yard line with five seconds left in the half.  However, the half would end with an incomplete pass attempt and the score tied 0-0.  In would remain tied until the 5:06 mark of the third quarter when Fort Scott's Luke Halsey would somehow find decent enough footing to boot a 31 yard field goal.

The Greyhounds would pull away for the win with two fourth quarter touchdowns.

The Ravens fall to 0-1 in conference play and to 1-2 overall.  The Ravens will host Highland this Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.  The following week, the Ravens host Butler at 7 p.m. on September 27.
