The Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Dance
Team hosted nearly 90 aspiring dancers ages four to 18 at its annual Red Raven
Dance Clinic on Saturday, January 31, 2009. The dancers gathered at Nellis Hall
Gym and divided into three groups based on age. Current Red Raven dancers helped
each group learn a new routine and then come together for a finale dance with
the all-male Premiere Dance Team. The dancers took their performance to the main
gym for a half-time performance that night during the Red Raven men's basketball
game. This is the largest youth dance clinic held at CCC in years. The Red Raven
Dance teams are coached by Amy Folkerts.
CCC
premieres all guy dance team
Coffeyville Community College (CCC) debuted its first all
guy dance team at the football game on Saturday, Sept. 27. Dance Coach, Amy
Folkerts, was recruiting dancers and managers when she found a group of young
men interested in showing off their talents. The six men of the Premiere Dance
Team performed hip/hop and krumping moves to an excited crowd.
“This is a high energy group who bring a different kind of
entertainment to the area,” said Coach Folkerts.
The name “Premiere” signifies that this is the first group
of its kind not only for Coffeyville but the region. Folkerts hopes to have 12
to 15 young men on the team by next fall. Scholarships are available for
students interested in the Premiere Team.
